Wineries are extremely romantic places to say wedding vows. If you think about the rich aroma of wine, the romantic colors of purple grapes and wine coloring. It is definitely a unique location that your friends and family are sure to enjoy and remember. The beautiful scenery at wineries makes for fantastic photography and the amenities only add to the romantic appeal.

Imagine wine tasting with your family and friends on your wedding day, a horse-drawn carriage ready and waiting to whisk you and your husband off to your honeymoon location. There are wineries that offer those things to people who want to wed in their facilities. Many wineries offer wedding services, while others may allow you to host your wedding in their winery, but do not offer any wedding services, so you will need to check with the wineries that you are interested in before making a final decision.

Here are some things that you will want to consider if you are interested in a wedding in one of the romantic wineries in WNY:

1. Number of guests – Wineries are all different sizes. Some have facilities that you can use for your reception dinner, while others will require you to hold you reception outdoors in the vineyards. You need to ask the wineries that you would like to wed in how many guests they could handle. Obviously, you are going to want to wed in a winery that can accommodate all of your friends and family. Remember to check on the bathroom facilities, as well. You want your guests to be able to go to the bathroom if necessary without any problems.

2. Cost – Find out how much it will cost to have your wedding in the wineries that you like. Also, find out what the fee includes so that you can compare locations. Do they offer any discounts on certain days? Do they offer discounts for particular seasons? How many hours does the fee cover?

3. Backup Plan – If the wineries stage outdoor wedding receptions, do they have an alternative location that you and your guests can go if it rains?

4. Catering – How is the catering going to be handled? Do you need to hire a cater or do the wineries have on-site catering? If you have to hire your own caterer, are there any facilities for any last minute things that the caterer needs to prepare?

5. Beverages – Are you allowed to bring your own drinks or do you have to stick with what the wineries are offering for beverages?

6. Music & Dancing – Are there any restrictions on the types of music that can be played? Can you bring a band? A DJ? Where will they be able to set up? Is there a place near where the band or the DJ is set up for the guests to dance?

7. Photography – Are there any off-limit places for photography? Can pictures be taken of the wedding freely or will they be limited to certain places and certain times of the ceremony? Obviously, you are going to want to be able to let the photographer take pictures at their leisure, if at all possible, because the best moments are spontaneous moments that are captured throughout the day.

8. Parking – There is going to have to be plenty of parking space for your entire wedding, because nobody is going to want to have to walk a country mile to be able to come to your wedding in one of the wineries. So, be sure that the parking lot of the winery has plenty of parking space for everyone who will be attending your wedding.

9. Minors – Certainly, you cannot have the wedding without your ring bearer and your flower girl, and the rest of the children in the family, if that is what you desire. Make sure you ask the wineries what their rules about minors in the wedding party before selecting a winery for your wedding venue.

Wineries, once you get past all of the questions in the list above and you find a place that fits your wedding, can be unforgettable places to tie the knot in. There is an air of romanticism mixed with an upper class flair when you pick one of the fabulous wineries in WNY to say your “I Do’s” in. Plus everyone gets to sample delicious, fresh wines that you will not get to sample at other weddings in non-winery venues.
